Technology has seen
incredible growth in the past decade. There was a time when the idea that each
person could have a personal computer was preposterous. Now, almost every
household in America has a personal computer. Technological developments such
as Wi-Fi and 4G networking have allowed access to almost infinite data from
almost anywhere in America and beyond. Many developments have sprung up to
utilize the quickly growing internet community. One of these developments is
internet commerce, or ecommerce. Ecommerce is "the online transaction of
business, featuring linked computer systems of the vendor, host, and
buyer." (export.gov). The purpose of the paper is to discuss the benefits
of ecommerce as well as the legal, ethical, and social issues relating to
ecommerce.
